Google has launched Gemini 3—its most advanced AI model to date—bringing enhanced reasoning, multimodal capabilities and agentic coding to core products and new developer tools.

What We Know

Google released Gemini 3 on November 18, 2025, branding it as its “most intelligent model.” The update introduces Gemini 3 Pro in preview, with “Deep Think” mode pending safety evaluation before release to AI Ultra subscribers. The model immediately powers AI Mode in Search, the Gemini app, AI Studio, Vertex AI and the new Antigravity development platform. Google says Gemini 3 Pro outperforms its predecessor Gemini 2.5 Pro across reasoning, multimodal understanding and coding benchmarks.

Gemini 3 Pro excels on key industry benchmarks, including topping the LMArena leaderboard with a score of 1501 Elo, scoring PhD-level proficiency on Humanity’s Last Exam (37.5%) and GPQA Diamond (91.9%), and setting new standards in math (23.4% on MathArena Apex). Its multimodal understanding achieved 81% on MMMU-Pro, 87.6% on Video-MMMU, and 72.1% on SimpleQA Verified. “Deep Think” mode performs even better — reaching 41.0% on Humanity’s Last Exam, 93.8% on GPQA Diamond, and 45.1% on ARC‑AGI‑2 with code execution. Gemini 3 Pro also shows marked improvements in coding and agentic benchmarks: topping WebDev Arena (1487 Elo), achieving 54.2% on Terminal‑Bench 2.0, and 76.2% on SWE‑bench Verified.

Google introduced Antigravity, an agent-first IDE where AI agents powered by Gemini 3 Pro can autonomously plan, code and validate tasks. Antigravity also integrates Gemini 2.5 Computer Use for UI control and the Nano Banana image editing model.

Google says Gemini 3 is its most secure model yet, with extensive safety evaluations, reduced susceptibility to sycophancy and prompt injections, and engagement with independent evaluators and regulatory bodies.

What It Means

Gemini 3 marks a pivotal shift for Google’s AI strategy—moving from benchmark-driven releases to deeply integrated, practical applications. Launching Gemini 3 directly into Search and the Gemini app from day one underscores Google’s push to bring frontier AI to consumers and enterprises immediately.

For developers, Antigravity signals a new era of agent-first, autonomous coding assistance—Google is effectively positioning AI agents not as tools, but collaborative partners. Benchmark gains in reasoning, planning and coding suggest Gemini 3 will significantly enhance productivity in complex tasks.

In search, the immediate rollout of Gemini 3 may redefine user expectations of AI-generated answers and reduce reliance on traditional web results, accelerating shifts in traffic dynamics for publishers.

The Backstory

Gemini 3 builds on the evolution from Gemini 1’s introduction in late 2023, through Gemini 2’s agentic and reasoning features, to Gemini 2.5’s speed and reasoning enhancements earlier in 2025. With Gemini 3, Google is consolidating these gains into a unified, more capable model.

What’s Next

Google will release Deep Think mode to AI Ultra subscribers after safety reviews. Additional models in the Gemini 3 series are expected in the coming months. Embedding Gemini 3 across more Google services may follow, and its performance in real-world use cases will guide future AI development.

Market Reaction

Although specific market data is not available at launch, Google’s prompt integration of Gemini 3 into revenue-generating products like Search and developer platforms positions it to capitalize quickly on enterprise and consumer demand.
